I am proud to be the head teacher at Shenington Church of England (VA) Primary School. I am in the fortunate position to be able to say that I love my job and I am blessed to work with my "newly created high performing team", as Ofsted noted in March 2016. All of my staff are dedicated, committed, caring and incredibly hard working. We are a team who really care about each other and this reflects in our care for the children and families.
I have been in education for twenty two years, mostly as a full time teacher and a head teacher for nearly eight years. I have been in senior leadership for nearly eighteen years and a subject coordinator for most of my career. I have been a governor for as long as I can remember in my career, from about 1996, in several capacities: staff governor (including senior leader), Local Authority governor and a head teacher for most of the second half of my career.
I consider it to be my key role to firstly keep all of our children and school community safe, followed by educating our young people to achieve their full potential in all aspects of life.
In February 2011, Ofsted noted that "we were a happy harmonious school". Our latest Ofsted inspection in March 2016 praised "the high expectations" in our school and my "aspirational" role. I can only be aspirational with a team who are aspirational themselves and so I praise them for helping me to create the strong Christian ethos and vision which we nurture within our school. Being a teacher is a joy: working with my team and our pupils is a gift to be cherished.
