Literacy - Curriculum Intent

English is an integral part of Shenington school's curriculum. English is taught in its own right and provides access to the whole curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to speak clearly, convey their ideas, develop vocabulary, build their knowledge and ideas within their writing. In all subjects, children develop their reading and writing through good use of punctuation, spelling and grammar. Throughout school, the children will build on and expand their range of writing and a variety of grammar and develop their vocabulary. We immerse children in texts that are rich in vocabulary to enable them to become confident writers. As an inclusive school, we tailor our curriculum to allow access to all learners.
